Strategic Sourcing Associate We are searching for an experienced resource to help with current supply chain needs in our Fine Chemistry Division. Successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with global raw material sourcing and be able to fulfill department backfill/cross training, S&OP functions and new SAP design functions.
Skills Required:
- Possess global knowledge in the markets for the materials being purchased; currently specialty chemical starting materials and intermediates for R&D, Pilot plant and Commercial scale of cGMP and non-cGMP products.
- Work closely with the Manufacturing teams at South Haven (cGMP) and Tyrone (non-cGMP) to provide information (RFQs/RFPs) quickly by understanding their needs as they relate to identified markets and materials.
- Identify and evaluate new raw material suppliers using market knowledge and personal business contacts.
- Ensure all materials purchased meet Albemarle's specification and quality standards.
- Negotiate lowest price & freight cost consistent with security of supply for all materials targeted.
- Ensure vendor's quality systems are in place and functioning, especially when non-conformances are encountered that require root cause analysis and meaningful corrective actions. - Negotiate purchasing agreements with existing suppliers and evaluate their performance.
- Have a working knowledge of SAP including but not limited to: creation of outline agreements, purchase orders, updating pricing changes, and purchase order maintenance.
- Update raw material standard costs for financial forecasting and analysis.
- Coordinate new vendor and new raw material requests using SAP and external approval databases.
- Review and resolve PO, GR, IR discrepancies.
- Basic understanding of the S&OP process is needed with a goal of improving the current process at both plant sites to Best in Class.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the area of purchasing/procurement of raw materials, preferably from a global standpoint.
