Job Summary:
The School of Social Work, within the College of Health at Cleveland State University (CSU), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 18, 2025. This is an on-campus position. We are primarily interested in candidates with expertise in clinical social work practice, but scholars from all social work disciplines are also encouraged to apply. This is a full-time, nine-month academic appointment with primary teaching responsibilities for both web-based and face-to-face courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (a total of five courses per academic year). The successful candidate must also have an active research agenda and expect to engage in standard university and community service activities.

The School of Social Work at CSU is rapidly growing, with approximately 1,100 students enrolled in our CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW programs. The school educates a diverse student body from various geographic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and places great valueon the diversity of our faculty and staff.

The College of Health encompasses the following academic units, that were previously part of other university colleges or were standalone departments: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Exercise Science/Community Health, Health Sciences/Public Health, Music Therapy Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, School of Nursing and School of Social Work.

Minimum Qualifications:

• MSW degree from a CSWE accredited university;
• Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field – Appropriate terminal degree completed by July 1, 2025. Persons who are ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor;
• Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience;
• Demonstrated ability to teach clinical, social work practice, and related academic areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and
• Eligibility for social work licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Record of publications in scholarly journals;
• Evidence of successful teaching of clinical courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels;
• Teaching experience in both face-to-face and web-based courses;
• Research interests in various areas in clinical social work; and
• Current possession of social work licensure.
