Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise- wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. The primary mission of the Enterprise Systems Windows team is to ensure secure, highly available and robust computing platforms to power the University’s mission critical Enterprise Windows Systems. The team installs, configures, and supports Microsoft Windows Servers running on rackmount, blade, virtual and cloud platforms. The team also manages the ITCS Blade and Virtual Infrastructures.
As a Enterprise Windows Systems Administrator, you handle these tasks:
- This position assists the manager with setting and actively driving the technical direction of the team.
• Manage and support Microsoft Windows Servers running on rackmount, blade, virtual and cloud platforms
• Manage and support the team’s Blade Infrastructure and Virtual Infrastructures
• Troubleshooting performance issues, system failures, and security events
• Provision and configuring new systems
• Monitor and maintain overall system security
• Perform system level security hardening and performance tuning
• Upgrade hardware, software, patch, and remediate system level vulnerabilities
• Research, architect, develop, test, and deploy new solutions to solve operational issues or meet business needs
• Develop and test disaster recovery plans
• Manage short and long-term projects of varying degrees of size and complexity - Collaborate and consult with internal and external resources offering technical expertise and recommendations.

- Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
- VMWare vSphere Virtual Infrastructures
- Building/supporting blade infrastructures
- Researching, architecting, building, testing, and deploying Windows Platform solutions
- Developing and testing disaster recovery plans
- Interpersonal, negotiation, organizational, planning, and strong problem-solving skills
