The Juniata College Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work invites candidates to apply for the position of Lecturer in Sociology. The position is a non-tenure track, unranked, fixed term position. The contract term is one academic semester (Spring 2018). The contract may be eligible for renewal for the 2018-2019 academic year upon successful completion of the initial contract. We seek applicants who can teach one Introduction to Sociology section with approximately 35 students per section, using a common open source textbook. The Introduction to Sociology course at Juniata College is part of the general education curriculum as well as a required foundation course for Sociology majors and for students enrolled in the Accredited Bachelor of Social Work program. We seek applicants who have a comprehensive exposure to the discipline of Sociology. Qualified candidates must have relevant higher education teaching experience, preferably teaching Introduction to Sociology or other courses within the discipline of Sociology. Candidates should hold at least a Masters Degree in Sociology or Social Work, however degree credentials in other closely related disciplines are acceptable if the candidate has higher education teaching experience in Sociology.
