Dean of Students – Grades K-5
The Mifflinburg Area School District will accept applications for the following professional position:
Dean of Students – Grades K-5
Dean of Students for Mifflinburg Area Elementary and Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School. This will be a shared position with time split between both buildings. It is preferred the candidate holds a PK – 12 Principal Certificate or be actively working towards the certificate.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Building Principal with daily supervision of students
- Assist the Building Principal with student discipline, including notifying parents/guardians, attending parent/guardian meetings, and keeping up-to-date records of student discipline using our student management systems.
- Work with the Building Principal and Attendance Secretary to monitor daily attendance, resolve attendance concerns, carry out School Attendance Improvement Conferences (SAICs), and attend Truancy Hearings at the District Magistrate’s Office
- Attend and play an active role in PBIS Tier 1 Meetings while supporting the schools’ PBIS ROAR programs.
- Manage Section 504 Service Agreements including scheduling 504 Meetings, developing/editing the 504 Service Agreement, providing copies of 504 Service Agreements and SDIs to appropriate staff.
- Assist the Building Principal and School Police Officer in safety drills
- Be Safe Crisis Management trained or be willing to be Safe Crisis Management trained
- Assist the Building Principal with staff development
- Assist the Building Principal with Orientation and Back to School Nights
- Participate in the interview process for staff positions throughout the two buildings.
- Assist the Building Principal in creating a positive school climate and culture.
- Be able to manage a flexible schedule between the Elementary and Intermediate Schools
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position falls under the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement. Benefits for this position are in accordance with the Teacher’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
