The Temple University Stroke program is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center that participates in the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Program and has consistently achieved Gold Plus and Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite status. It has an active program of clinical trials though its affiliation with STOKENET (NIH funded). The Stroke Service sees 800-1000 cerebrovascular related admissions per year; the formal stroke prevention clinic uses evidenced based guidelines for risk factor modification; and a Telestroke/Telemedicine network for acute stroke consults provides coverage to neighboring community and rural hospitals.

The Neurosciences Center at Temple University Hospital is one of the Philadelphia region's best facilities for the treatment of neurological disorders. The mission-driven culture, state-of-the-art diagnostic center, clinical trials and basic science/translational research all contribute to a wide range of advanced treatment options for patients.  The incoming Stroke/Vascular neurologist would work closely with a collaborative team that includes other vascular neurologists, neurology trained neuro-critical care providers, vascular neurosurgeons, advanced practice nurses, and neurology residents.

Our highly skilled neurology and neurosurgery faculty are committed to providing:

  • education that is patient-centered, instilling in learners the School’s ethic of human service and lifelong learning;
  • research that advances and integrates basic and clinical science; and
  • patient care that is administered with compassion and understanding, utilizing contemporary knowledge and techniques.

Working together, our neurologists and neurosurgeons use the latest protocols and state-of-the-art equipment, including the Leksell Gamma Knife® 4C and the Elekta Synergy® S, to diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans for the full range of neurological problems.
