Broad Scope and Function |
This position is open until filled. This position analyzes business processes, determines needs, and implements software systems designed to meet those needs at University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI). This position will review current business processes and procedures, document and improve upon them, perform needs analyses, define system requirements, and ultimately acquire or design and build systems that fulfill those requirements. The Analyst will work alone and with project teams and operates with a strong emphasis on business process analysis and management of multiple concurrent projects. The position trains and assists users with software and equipment usage and develops recommendations for enhancing system performance. The Analyst relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and may lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. |
Reporting Relationship |
The position reports directly to and receives general direction from the Application Systems Analyst III. In the Analyst III’s absence, the position reports to the Director of Information Technology. |
Conditions of Employment |
This is a full-time, exempt from overtime, benefited position, covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. Continued employment in this position is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related area or equivalent experience. 2. Demonstrated experience with the analysis of user needs and feasibility studies. 3. Demonstrated experience as a project leader. Ability to lead teams and possesses a thorough understanding of project management tools. 4. Demonstrated strong understanding of financial, human resources, and payroll systems. 5. Demonstrated strong understanding of business functions and processes. 6. Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff and management. 7. Demonstrated familiarity with relational databases and client-server concepts. Ability to query databases with tools such as SQL or MS Visual Basic and ability to write complex financial reports using vendor software and external reporting methods. 8. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 9. Demonstrated ability to serve as information systems consultant on the development and adaptation of computer applications; analyze equipment and software packages and make cost effective acquisition recommendations; to use and ensure proper and efficient utilization of equipment and software; train users in the use of equipment and software; and talk to and interview others to obtain or exchange information. 10. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards. |
Preferred Qualifications |
1. Experience in utilizing API calls for data extract and reporting. 2. Demonstrated experience with workflow concepts using a software-based workflow engine. 3. Demonstrated experience with report writing tools such as Crystal Reports, Cognos, or Tableau. 4. Experience using Excel macros for data extrapolation. 5. Experience using Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio. 6. Experience with Kronos Workforce Ready HR and payroll management software. 7. Experience with Central Square Finance or a similar accounting system. |

01. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems, processes, and user needs, crossing departmental boundaries as needed. Recommends modifications to existing systems or formulates new systems and processes to support UEI’s overall business strategies and company policies. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. |

02. Reviews, analyzes, and recommends modifications to programming systems, including testing, debugging, and installing to support application systems. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives. Writes documentation and procedures to coincide with new system updates. May be expected to write manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures. |

This includes but is not limited to scheduling jobs, system backups, system and data security, system startup/shutdown, writing shell scripts, monitoring system performance, application and system user account management, printer support, network configuration, and software installation. |

06. Works as the liaison with UEI’s external software/hardware vendors to troubleshoot problems, enhance system software, and coordinate projects. Maintains relationships with campus community. |

07. Provides Help Desk support to answer user inquiries regarding hardware and software systems; researches and corrects system problems, and develops recommendations to improve information systems as appropriate. |
