Process Engineer
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Process Engineer for the Optoelectronics Center. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.
Purpose of the Position: To provide technical assistance, training, maintenance and repair for the cleanroom and the specialized processing equipment associated with the Optics Center.
Salary: $61,458 - $70,724
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience.
Essential Job Duties: Assist with maintenance and repair on all micro and nano optical/electrical processing and test equipment in the Optics Center cleanroom and labs. Develop detailed training and usage documents for equipment and processes used in the Optics Center cleanroom and associated labs. Conduct billable research and development of complicated fabrication processes for industry partners. Work with industry scientists and engineers to develop their processes on our equipment. Work with faculty and students on the details of their experiments and assist on proper procedures. Develop complex processing operations and document to build a process portfolio for the Optics Center.
Preferred Qualifications: Must have experience in the areas of nano-fabrication, plasma etching, chemical etching, dielectric deposition and metallization; optical & e-beam lithography; optical, e-beam, & atomic-force microscopy. Preferred experience with 3-D modeling such as Solidworks, 3-D printing, CNC and laser cutting.
