Benefits and Compensation Analyst, Wright State University
The Benefits and Compensation Analyst works closely with both the Manager of Benefits and Director of Compensation & HR Policy on the implementation and administration of the university’s benefits and compensation programs. This position collects and analyzes data, as well as supports the day-to-day work and communication needs of both functions.
Essential Functions
Benefits Information, Communication and Tools
- Craft university-wide communications and maintain updates to the HR Benefits web pages and other communication forums. Continuously monitor and improve communication efforts (including videos, workflows, tools, etc.) focusing on clarity and customer understanding.
- Provide benefit counseling and assistance to both individual employees and groups. Also develop and deliver presentations regarding benefit offerings, including conducting benefits presentation for new employee orientation.
Benefits Billing, Leaves and Vendor Relations
- Manage the tracking and timely processing of benefit vendor payments and maintain positive relationships with all benefit vendors. Ensure accuracy of vendor payments and address discrepancies through benefit audits and compliance reports.
- Serve as liaison between employees, managers, and third-party administrators for all leaves of absence, including FMLA and short-term/long-term disability leaves, including assisting employees with claim submission. Responsible for managing the relationship with third-party administrators for all leaves of absence.
Compensation Analysis and Consultation
- Research, analyze, and make recommendations regarding compensation matters such as job descriptions, titles, pay grade levels, and minimum education/experience requirements for both existing and new positions.
- Provide consultation to HR Business Partners for compensation actions such as, promotions, transfers, salary adjustments, job audits, job creation, demotions and reorganizations.
Compensation Approvals, Communications and Compliance
- Review and approve Personnel Action Forms and other appropriate compensation actions.
- Respond annually to the CUPA-HR Salary Survey and other compensation survey requests.
- Maintain updates on the HR Compensation website and shared network drives. Continuously monitor and improve communication efforts (including process documentation, tools, etc.) focusing on clarity and ease of understanding.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or related field and one year of full-time HR experience with an emphasis in Compensation and Benefit Administration OR an Associate’s degree and four years of full-time HR experience with an emphasis in Compensation and Benefit Administration
- Integrity and judgement necessary to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Proficiency in Excel with experience utilizing lookup and pivot table commands.
- Proven ability to act independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience creating and delivering presentations in PowerPoint or other applications.
