Job Summary & Essential Functions: o Execute and complete complex engineering projects o Execute and complete complex or novel assignments that require the use and development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures o Coordinate and be responsible for the execution of a large project (broad in scope), or a number of smaller projects with complex features o Assist in defining product technology o Provide direction to other engineers and department support o Develop conceptual/preliminary designs for new projects and products o Participate in initial technical discussions with current and prospective customers as well as subsequent design review meetings o Provide support to manufacturing functions to ensure correct procedures and instructions utilized in building product o Develop test requirements and/or test procedures with technicians o Participate in design review meetings with customers and engineers/designers/director of engineering o Proactively execute resolution to administrative and engineering problems o Provide technical supervision to all departments within company location o Provide education and training to junior members of technical staff either directly or indirectly o Lead multi-disciplinary failure analysis o Perform other assignments as required Required Skills & Qualifications: o Needs to have comprehensive Engineering properties including: o Expert knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards o Proficient in technical writing; good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical; clear understanding of creation of full contractual documentation packages o Required: able to create, read, and interpret engineering drawings o Prior experience with ISO requirements o Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, effectively resolve problems, and establish priorities o Demonstrated understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing o Intermediate level of computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project, VBA; Advanced level preferred o Good working knowledge of 3-D design tools, Solid Works Preferred o Good fundamental knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and it applications o High proficiency in Schematic Capture and electrical design o Embedded Systems design o Analog and Data Acquisition design o Thorough knowledge of prototyping methods o Intermediate knowledge of machine vision systems for both diffuse and specular objects o Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business o Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving o Flexible with high energy, able to handle multiple tasks smoothly Highly Advantageous Skills & Qualifications: o Established as an originator of Intellectual Property with multiple patents o Intermediate proficiency in PCB Layout o Both assembly code and high-level programming skills o PLC Programming o VHDL Programming o Hard Optical systems design o In-Depth knowledge of Environmental testing including setup and operation of vibration shaker systems; fixture design Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: o 4 year technical degree from accredited school, advanced degree preferred o 10-15 years in design and manufacturing environment designing both components and systems that include embedded software
