Mersen USA St Marys, a world leader in the manufacture of isostatic graphite, has the following current job opening: Key Category Manager - Responsible to implement purchasing strategy for a portfolio of purchasing categories by applying appropriate purchasing methods and strategies under the best conditions of quality, cost, delivery, innovation (QCDI) in line with Group/Group Segment/Business Unit strategic guidelines. Coordinate, lead and follow-up the implementation of the purchasing strategy by working with support of main plants' purchasing department, which is the key interface, and if necessary directly with logistic, design office or R&D departments. Responsibilities include: Carry out market & supplier surveys and researches market trends Develop and implement efficient purchasing strategies adapted to plant needs Runs supplier selection & appraisal programs by category Organizes supplier panel for categories and leads purchasing contract negotiations Follow-up on supplier performance through plant indicators Seek out innovation and impulse standardization per key purchasing category Negotiate with suppliers and supervise implementation of improvement/productivity action plans. The successful candidate will have, at a minimum a Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Logistics, Business or a related field and 5-10 years' experience in Purchasing. Competencies in Project Management, Purchasing Risk, Supplier Relationships, Cost Modeling and Budgeting and strong communication and negotiating experience required. Ability to travel 30%-40%, both international and domestic.
